Liturgy Committee

Liturgy Committee

Contact: Liz Holmes, 703-490-5327, Mary_liz_holmes@yahoo.com

This is the composite coordination of all the liturgically related ministries; i.e., planners, ushers, musicians, readers, Eucharistic ministers, and others with general interest. The intent is to foster within our faith community an experience of God in the celebration of liturgy, as well as to develop a deeper awareness and understanding of the implications of liturgy for the Catholic people of God in contemporary times.

Altar Care

Contact: Josette Lamb, 703-494-4008

People are needed to perform tasks related to care of the altar; setting-up for Sunday Liturgy, washing and ironing linens, and washing albs. Help is also needed in arranging the worship space for the special liturgies or seasons of the year: Lent, Easter, Advent, and Christmas. Service will be about once a month, depending on the number of volunteers. Requirement is a willingness to work “behind the scenes” in an area that is vital to our liturgical functions.

Liturgy Planning Group

Contacts:
Dave Garner, 703-583-5095, dgarner@lmi.org
Tom Richardson, 703-497-2807, richartwalton@comcast.com

The Liturgy Planners provide the Pastor with suggested plans for the celebration of Sunday, Holy Day, special Feast Day Masses, as well as the Advent Wreath Lighting Ceremony and Christmas Eve Posada procession. The Planners also prepare the Parish Advent, Lent, and Easter Season Booklets. Planning is done throughout the liturgical year and includes eight scheduled meetings. Experience is not required; however, interest in the celebration of the Mass and prayerful reflection on the scriptures are important.

Ministers of Care – Communion to the Home Bound

Contact: Carol Myskowski, 703-491-6703

Ministers of Care serve by bringing the Holy Eucharist to those in Assisted Living facilities, the sick and home bound of our parish. The Holy Eucharist is usually taken after the 9:00 a.m. Sunday Mass on a rotating basis.

Ministers of Care – Transportation

Contact: Please call rectory for assistance, 703-494-4008

These ministers serve to bring parishioners who are unable to transport themselves, to/from our celebration of the Eucharist on Saturday or Sunday. Primarily, this assistance is for elderly parishioners and parishioners in wheelchairs. The requirement is that you contribute some extra time on Saturday or Sunday to drive the person(s) to church.
Ministers of Care – Visitation

Contacts:
Kathy Braga, (703) 491-3331, kathbraga@aol.com
Martha Clements, (703) 583-5401

In the spirit of Our Lady’s visit to her cousin Elizabeth, this ministry is dedicated to responding in haste to those who are in need of a visit — those who are shut-in, in the hospital or other facility or who may be home-bound as caregivers. If you would like to be a “visitor,” this ministry is for you.
