Nursing

The Parish Nursing Ministry provides health services focusing on the whole person, integrating the body, mind, and soul to promote health in our Parish Community.  The Parish Nurse is a registered professional nurse who specializes in faith community nursing.   Faith community nursing “focuses on the intentional care of the spirit as part of the process of promoting holistic health and preventing or minimizing illness in a faith community.”  Service is through the independent practice of nursing as defined by the nurse practice act in the jurisdiction in which he or she practices, and the standards set forth in the “Faith Community Nursing: Scope and Standards of  Practice.” June 2005

A Parish Nurse does not provide medical treatment or hands-on care, but is a Health Educator, Health Counselor, Referral Source, Resource, and Coordinator of Volunteers.
