K-5 Grade
Our Program
Our Kindergarten through 5th grade program is a centralized program at the church. We offer 4 sessions – Tuesdays & Wednesdays, 4:30-5:45 & 6:00-7:15. Parents are asked to sign up on a rotating basis to be an aide in their child’s class; this usually translates to 3-4 classes during the RE year. We use Loyola’s Finding God series in our program, which forms children in their Catholic faith through prayer, tradition, liturgy and service to others.
Becoming a Catechist
A catechist is a teacher of religion who comes from all walks of life. You may be a professional athlete, a homemaker, a Pentagon employee, a nurse or a postal carrier. You may be single or married, young or old. You might be worried that you are not that “religious,” or you are not “qualified” to teach a Religious Education class. Be assured that you are not alone! Anyone who has been a catechist has had those feelings at one time or another! After our initial catechist training days & retreat in the fall, catechists meet on Sunday mornings every other month at church for prayer, grade level business, and sharing time. Catechists are expected to devote one hour per week for class preparation.
