Our Program
“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” Matthew 28: 19 – 20
We aim to help our young people understand and deepen their Catholic faith, their relationship with God and each other. We strive to provide them with a base of knowledge to build upon throughout their lives. The staff and volunteer catechists collaborate to support the parents who are the primary teachers of the faith. Our pastor, Father David Meng, provides leadership and direction to our program.
“Catechesis is the word used to describe this essential ministry of the Church through which the teachings of Christ have been passed on to believers through the ages.”~National Directory for Catechesis, 1
Becoming a Catechist
“Formation seeks to enable catechists to transmit the Gospel to those who desire to entrust themselves to Jesus Christ. The purpose of formation, therefore, is to make the catechist capable of communicating the Gospel Message.”~General Directory for Catechesis, 235
Our program is sustained by faith-filled volunteers who answer their Baptismal call to serve as a catechist. Catechist is derived from the Greek word meaning to echo. Catechists strive to echo the word of God in their classes and lives.

Service Opportunities
Confirmation Service Hour documentation forms can be picked up in the parish offices now located in the basement of the church. Remember, middle school students can begin earning their service hours toward the Confirmation requirement at the beginning of their sixth grade year.
ATTENTION: Need a few Confirmation service hours? Need a lot? The church nursery always needs helpers. Please contact Theresa Peck at Theresa.Peck@seas1.org to be placed on the schedule and take part in this very valuable church ministry. Don’t wait any longer!
Need service hours but not sure what you want to do? How about writing to a soldier and sharing with him/her about life back home? This is a great way to reach out to the lonely and homesick soldiers who sacrifice so much so that we can be safe and comfortable. Please contact Mrs. Lord at kathy.lord@seas1.org for more information!
Hospitality - Doughnut Sundays are another way to earn Confirmation service hours in service to the parish. The parish holds about four doughnut Sundays a year and help is always needed with set up, serving, and clean up. Please email Mary Weiss at mctrials2006@yahoo.com if you wish to help on a doughnut weekend or at other hospitality events.
Set Up Classroom - This is an ongoing service request. We need students who are willing to put their name on a call list to help set up for religious education meetings and classes after weekend events in the fellowship hall. This set up will almost exclusively be on early Sunday afternoons. Please have your name added to the list by sending an email to kathy.lord@seas1.org . There is no committment to a specific date when you add your name to the list – we will call you when the need arises!
Service Hours Reminder
Remember that service is often best performed among your family and friends. If you are having trouble finding service opportunities consider babysitting, doing yard work or shoveling snow for a neighbor. Reach out and write letters or make cards for the home bound, the elderly, or our veterans. Service opportunities are only limited by your own imagination and initiative!
